Butylphenyl methylpropional (BMHCA) also known as “Lillial” is an allergen widely used in fragrances and cosmetics. The EU regulatory authority announced their intent to phase it out by March 2022.
This regulatory process has not yet been completed under the UK Cosmetics Regulation. Therefore, the new EU provisions for “Lillial” do not apply in GB. However, a ban is expected in GB at a future date.
Soapsmith’s Bloosmbsury and Camden products contain a small amount, and less than 0.1% of “Lillial” that we are in the process of removing. The reformulated Bath Soaks are already on the market, and the Hand Washes, Hand & Body Lotions and Soap will be rolled out shortly.
If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch and we will do what we can to help.
